Race Quick View

Compare the races available when you create a character on Frostreaver, including base statistics, racial abilities, starting cities and available classes.

Choosing a race is one of the first decisions you make in EverQuest, and on a new progression server it helps to understand what that decision means before you begin.

Your race determines your starting statistics, racial abilities, possible classes and starting location. Your class then determines what you actually do once your journey begins.

Frostreaver Launch Rules

Frostreaver launched with Scars of Velious already unlocked. It also launched with Beastlords and Berserkers available from the beginning.

This table therefore reflects the character choices relevant to Frostreaver's launch, rather than simply reproducing the original 1999 character-creation rules.

Understanding the Stats

The seven numbers in the table are shown in this order: STR / STA / AGI / DEX / WIS / INT / CHA.

These are racial base statistics. Your class, character development, equipment and later upgrades will all affect the statistics your character actually has.

Racial Abilities Worth Knowing

Slam

Barbarians, Ogres and Trolls can use Slam, a racial melee ability capable of interrupting an opponent.

Hide & Sneak

Several races have access to Hide or Sneak as racial abilities, providing additional options for moving through the world.

Forage

Forage allows characters to gather useful food and other items directly from the environment.

Infravision

Infravision improves visibility in dark environments and can be particularly useful when travelling through caves and dungeons.

Ultravision

Dark Elves possess Ultravision, providing excellent visibility in dark environments.

Natural Regeneration

Iksar and Trolls naturally regenerate health faster than most other races.

Iksar Armour Class

Iksar receive an innate armour-class benefit from their scales, making their racial characteristics particularly noticeable during the early levels.

Ogre Stun Immunity

Ogres cannot be stunned by attacks from the front, making this one of the most distinctive racial abilities in the game.

Tinkering

Gnomes have access to Tinkering, giving them a distinctive racial tradeskill option.
