Choosing a deity in EverQuest is more than choosing a piece of character background. Your religious allegiance can affect the factions you encounter, the quests available to you and the deity-specific equipment and rewards you may be able to obtain.

On a new progression server, these choices are particularly important because the original starting cities, factions and religious systems still form part of the early game.
